As America slowly begins to reopen in the midst of COVID-19, controversy surrounds recent remarks made by presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden and President Donald Trump.

This Memorial Day weekend, mayhem ensued as Americans flooded to beaches and other outdoor areas, sparking public concerns amidst the lingering threat of the COVID-19 pandemic. Also, Joe Biden’s recent appearance on “The Breakfast Club” aroused controversy as the presumptive Democratic nominee advised that voters who were unsure of whether they would vote for him or Donald Trump “ain’t black.” It was the latest gaffe made by Biden, who seeks to challenge Donald Trump in this November’s election. We wade into the latest controversies and examine their meaning this week on Middle Theory.
